When we first launched the course last year (at half its current size!), we already had students who finished plotting their books in less than a WEEK, and then went on to finish their drafts in just a few months following. The banter between the characters is great, as is their slowly deepening bonds. It is mainly a romance story ,although some of the books have more exciting plots like crashing the local market or arbitrage. I’m so psyched to be launching NPA 2.0, and I can’t WAIT for you guys to get your hands on this one. Over their travels they bond, but the main attraction is their banter and slowly developing romance. Having a hobby they are passionate over. A character running away from family or group. Your villain’s right hand secretly planning to overthrow them.
#Books with good romance subplots series
I’ve always been into fantasy and sci-fi, I was watching one of the Harry Potter Films for probably the millionth time on one of those cable channels that put it on constantly and I realized I wanted to find a book/book series that had the same type of romance sub plot that Harry Potter has or. A teacher or mentor struggling with issues at home but trying to conceal them at work. Fantasy with Romance Subplot recommendations. A character’s sudden death by natural causes. (Great way to start negative character arcs) A character developing behavioural changes due to said events. A character coping with traumatic events from their past. (Storms, tornadoes, floods, blackouts, fires) A long running rivalry between two of your characters. Establisshing a fear or phobia in the beginning of the story only to overcome it towards the end, or use it for comedic purposes. Bonding with a patient, employee or customer at work, who doesn’t have anything in common with your character at first glance. A minor character organising an event that later serves as a setting for the main plot. Pets! Give your pet their own little storyline, even something as small as trying to learn a trick or adapt to a new brand of food when their favourite one gets discontinued. Not everyone roots for your heror, in fact, some characters might disagree with their ideas or be jealous and enforce their own way of action behind the protagonist’s back. Real life gets in the way of the protagonist’s adventure, causing them to have to take a step back (grades at school, layoffs at work, family member’s death, friends and family’s life events like new relationships, weddings, pregnancies, illnesses, careers etc.) Here are 24 non-romantic subplot ideas for your story!
